BHS Australia opens for business

German mixing and crushing technology group BHS-Sonthofen has recently established an Australian joint venture business in Newcastle.

The local business offers sales, consulting, and on-site service to Australian customers and is equipped with several test machines and a spare parts warehouse.

According to Dennis Kemmann, managing director of BHS-Sonthofen GmbH in Germany, demand for the company’s mixing, crushing, and recycling machines in Australia is increasing.

While BHS’ mixers have been used to backfill mines for many years, a number of concrete mixers are also being used for major new infrastructure projects in Australia, such as at the Barangaroo Development Project in Sydney.

The Australian joint venture sees BHS-Sonthofen collaborating with Mr Gill Wedmore of BFG Group who has used BHS mixers for many years in his business.

Besides mixing and crushing machines, BHS sees potential in Australia for equipment for recycling waste material and scrap metal.

Geoffrey Lee has been working as business development manager for BHS Australia since August. He has extensive knowledge of machine technology in mining, construction, and recycling.

Lee said: “Our spare parts warehouse near Newcastle allows us to drastically reduce delivery times. Moreover, our presence in Australia gives customers and interested parties a strong sense of security before making their investment decisions. They can now use test machines for trials.”

BHS-Australia is based at Heatherbrae in NSW.
